Summary

The proposed project is to teach landholders how to build innovative sensors in a workshop setting. The sensors, called LoRaWAN network, communicate data up to 15km without the need for electricity or wifi. These sensors monitor a variety of data, boosting connectedness, independence, best practice & lifelong learning. LoRaWAN stands for Long Range Wide Area Network and is a project Macintyre Ag Alliance have been trialling and prototyping for the past 14 months. Currently, five farmers in the area are trialling these sensors with great results. This project will enhance this connectedness while bringing greater communication, innovation and skilled employment opportunities within the Goondiwindi region. Educational forums will also be held in the smaller surrounding townships of Lundavra andToobeah, 78km and 45km out of Goondiwindi town centre, respectively.
