Manager, Capacity Building

We are looking for a leader who is passionate about building the capacity of people across rural industries with communications, marketing and events experience.

We are looking for a strategic thinking, highly organised and outcomes-focused manager to lead the important hallmark capacity building programs within AgriFutures Australia.

Responsibilities include:

  • End to end management of multiple programs
  • Management of the events, marketing and communications outputs associated with the programs
  • Management of the stakeholder relations and external collaborations woven through these programs
  • Management of new and exciting strategic initiative to ensure the current programs flourish and new opportunities are maximised.

Business Development Manager – National Rural Issues

Within the Business Development arm and due to increased workload, a new role has been created within an existing program, Manager – National Rural Issues (NRI). Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Development, the role is to provide advice and oversee the national rural issues related business development programs. Largely, the NRI program seeks to directly address barriers to growth and help rural industry (food, forestry & fisheries) and governments respond to opportunities. This is done by generating research, information and tools that informs and improves policy debate.

Business Development Manager – Cross Sector Programs

Reporting to the General Manager, Business Development, the role is to provide advice, oversee national programs and cross sectorial research of significance to Australian agriculture. You will have a vision for issues that apply to more than one sector. This involves initiating, developing and managing programs and external collaborations involving RDC’s, public and private partnerships. You will have the following program manager responsibilities:

  • Government grant programs (honeybees, weeds biocontrol, Q fever)
  • Biomass / bioenergy
  • Animal biosecurity
  • Agricultural & veterinary chemicals
  • Rural Safety & Health

You will consult and liaise with levied industries to build strong cross linkages across the agricultural sector, to develop and deliver research that can be applied to more than one industry. This includes representing AgriFutures in national cross sector forums that involve collaboration in leading innovation for rural industries including Cooperative Research Centres, Rural Safety and Health Alliance.

Relationships/Administration Coordinator

Supporting the Manager, Business Development (National Rural Issues), this role provides administrative and logistical support, working with a direct team of five people, coordinating many different projects and programs that are primarily related to investment and research.

The role has a great mix of administrative duties coupled with a substantial relationship building aspect. You’ll be a people person and have the ability to build rapport with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and in turn leverage those relationships in order to provide positive outcomes for yourself and Agrifutures Australia.

You’ll be administering all contracts and related activities including generating research agreements, contracts, project variations and routine correspondence. You’ll also be providing secretarial support in business meetings, including booking venues, coordinating travel arrangements, distributing meeting papers and drafting minutes.
