Travel to International Olive Council Chemists' Meeting, Madrid, Spain

Summary

As an Australian representative and accredited chemist of the International Olive Council, Dr Mailer will attend the IOC Chemists' meeting in Madrid, Spain, 2425th September. At that meeting he will present research results from Australian olive oils for consideration in setting international standards. The AOA sees this as a vital need where standards set by IOC have a direct effect on trade of olive oil into Europe and possibly also with Asia. An input into the development of trade standards using data from Australian studies will help ensure there are no impediments for Australian producers. Dr Mailer will hold discussions with chemists in the Spanish Department of Agriculture, Laboratorio Arbitral Agroalimentario, Ministerio de Agricultura, in Madrid. This builds on Project DAN239A Compliance of Australian olive oils to international standards.
