Objective Summary
The purpose of the research is to define the requirements for assessing the competitiveness of Australian agriculture in the domestic and world markets’. It is understood that the research will entail developing an agreed definition of what competitiveness means; the identification of factors that impact on the competitiveness of a nation’s agricultural sector; the identification of appropriate data sources to quantify the relevant factors; the development of a methodology to assess changes in competitiveness over time and between national agricultural sectors; and the development of a structural framework consisting of organisations and stakeholders that would be appropriate for the ongoing delivery of the competitiveness assessment over time.
