The results of this research will provide veterinarians and thoroughbred horse breeders objective information to identify clinical parameters of the criticallyill neonatal foal which will have a negative impact on their shortterm survival and future athletic performance.

1)Determine admission parameters and clinical problems that will affect the survival of the criticallyill neonatal foal. 2)Determine whether surviving foals reach their sale potential as yearlings. 3)Determine whether surviving foals are able to have one race. 4)Determine clinical parameters in the criticallyill neonatal foal which affect their future athletic performance.
