Summary

The results of this research will provide veterinarians and thoroughbred horse breeders objective information to identify clinical parameters of the critically-ill neonatal foal which will have a negative impact on their short-term survival and future athletic performance.

Objective Summary

1)Determine admission parameters and clinical problems that will affect the survival of the critically-ill neonatal foal. 2)Determine whether surviving foals reach their sale potential as yearlings. 3)Determine whether surviving foals are able to have one race. 4)Determine clinical parameters in the critically-ill neonatal foal which affect their future athletic performance.
