RIRDC / GRDC Review of the National Oat Breeding Program 2008

This project is a review of the oat breeding projects funded by GRDC and RIRDC and managed by SARDI. This review will look at: o the way funds have been used to support each project o identification of anomalies in funding o any areas of functional or financial overlap in the way funding is used for oat / hay variety breeding o the boundaries, constraints and appropriateness of the current research scope for the program o the ability of the program to meet the needs of government as a stakeholder o appropriate levels of funding for the program (in both grain and hay research) o mechanisms for capturing levies and other sources of funding for the program o the future role of each agency in oversight of the oat breeding research program o models for potential commercial selfreliance in oat breeding and future roles for SARDI and commercial partners, if appropriate
