In 2012 the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation delivered a 7 day program to Emerging Leaders in the Rice Industry. This program was highly regarded by the participants and their feedback indicates that it provided them with the confidence to become involved in the industry at a range of levels and the opportunity to seek opportunities for ongoing development. Two participants in this program applied for the full Australian Rural Leadership Program (Course 20) and both were awarded scholarships in this Flagship Program. One participant applied for a Nuffield Scholarship and was awarded a 2013 Scholarship.The RGA has identified another cohort of potential and emerging leaders for development and seeks funding to deliver a short, industry specific, leadership program in 2014/15.

The objective of this program is to develop the leadership capacity and resilience of the rice industry and its regions. this program will assist participants to: . Deepen their understanding and appreciation of the need for flexible and responsive leadership; . Introduce the participants to foundational aspects and skills of effective leadership; . Develop greater selfawareness and adaptability in tems of behavioural responses, management style, and leadership approach; . Develop a structured pathway for future leadership development; . Foster ongoing relationships for peer support in the rice industry; . Engage in a larger national network of leaders through the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation's Network of Fellows.
