Objective Summary

I seek to travel to Canberra to attend the Ecological Society of Australia conference “Sustaining Biodiversity: the next 50 years”, to present the results of the RIRDC-sponsored project “Native Mammals as Pets: conservation, animal welfare, and industry feasibility” (RIRDC PRJ-004398). The final report for this project, on which I am lead author, is shortly to be released and has already received substantial media interest. This conference is a major national and international forum for environmental scientists and policymakers and represents an ideal forum in which to present the results of this project. I have been successful in gaining a speaking slot to present a talk on this work, and RIRDC travel funding is sought in order to cover my expenses in attending this conference.
