Summary
The 4th International Rice Congress (IRC2014) is being held in Bangkok, Thailand from Tuesday 27 October to 1 November 2014. The IRC2014 theme is ‘Rice for the World’ and the program will incorporate the 29th International Rice Research Conference and the 5th Temperate Rice Conference. The Congress will be a very valuable forum for the Australian rice industry – an opportunity to share and learn about the best available technology to improve all aspects of industry productivity and sustainability. The Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia Inc. (RGA) and the RIRDC Rice R&D Committee (RRDC) believe it is in the best interests of the industry to be represented at the Congress by a team covering rice production, processing, research and development and extension. A project to fund a team to attend the Congress was prepared by the RGA and funding for up to five people was recently approved by the RIRDC Rice R&D Committee. The Rice Breeding Partnership (a partnership between NSW DPI, SunRice and RIRDC) will also fund 45 rice researchers from the breeding program to attend IRC2014. http://ricecongress.com/2014/
