The Smarty Grant will fund the setup, hosting, design and development of IT infrastructure to support a Learning Management System (LMS) to facilitate the delivery of nonaccredited courses and microcredentials using online and blended learning (combination of online and facetoface) delivery methods. This new, stand alone delivery platform the 'Learning Hive', will provide a focal point for all educational activities initiated by the SAAA in collaboration with other industry stakeholders on a state and national level. Collaborators may include Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), research institutions, government agencies, and peak industry bodies and associations.

Objective Summary

The 'Learning Hive' will make it possible for the SAAA to: design, develop and deliver synchronous and asynchronous online nonaccredited courses and microcredentials to apiarists across Australia. This includes all teaching, learning and assessment activities facilitate online discussions and communities of practice on topics of interest manage online student enrolments and the payment of course fees (where applicable) facilitate the cocreation of learner eportfolios to capture the breadth and depth of learner skills and experiences issue electronic certification for completed courses, including Open Digital Badges (which can be stored in an electronic 'backpack'); and curate and make available an uptodate repository of relevant research articles, opinion pieces and publications.
