Summary
Farmer involvement in, and active engagement with, the evolving agriculture technology (agtech) ecosystem is critical to the success and improved productivity of both sectors. Yet, currently theses two sectors are not well connected and mutually beneficial collaboration opportunities have not been identified or utilised. The purpose of this project is to identify gaps in the Australian agtech ecosystem with a focus on improving collaboration between the agriculture and agtech sectors.

Research Organisation
AgThentic Pty Ltd
Objective Summary
AgThentic will undertake both desktop and qualitative research (i.e., interviews) to achieve the above purpose. Initially, we will engage with the agtech community in both Australia and internationally to understand how agtech startups are seeking to engage with the agriculture community: what’s working, what’s not, and where are areas of opportunity? In parallel, we will conduct a series of interviews, designthinking workshops, and focus groups with key participants in the agriculture industry, including young farmers (e.g., through Ignite) and AgriFutures’ industries (e.g., through steering committees). Topics will include: ● Perception of, and experiences with, the agtech and startup ecosystem ● Problem identification and definition for key challenges producers are facing ● Challenges for technology development and adoption ● Novel ways to engage and involve producers in the agtech ecosystem Throughout the project, AgThentic will summarise insights, and create and disseminate content for the benefit of the agriculture and agtech sectors, and AgriFutures Australia stakeholders.
