Summary

In association with the planned development of the Australian Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines for Poultry, consult with minor and emerging poultry industries to establish an appropriate contribution to the Poultry S&G. The major species chicken, eggs and ducks will fund a share of the principal AHA project. Funding is being sought to include other species as they are currently listed in the Poultry model code of practice.

Objective Summary

• Assemble an effective writing group for Turkeys, Quail, Partridge, Pigeon, Guinea fowl, Pheasants and Geese welfare management matters
• Consult within the Industries and at a later stage within the Poultry S&G development process (public consultation)
• Document the standard and guidelines for incorporation into the Poultry S&G
• Publish and communicate progress with the document
• Investigate and recommend subsequent extension projects for these species welfare.
