Summary

1. SEQ Fish scope the size and feasibility of the native juvenile and adult freshwater turtle aquarium and restaurant markets, domestically and overseas, and implement a Marketing Plan within 1 year.

2. SEQ Fish establish facilities, expertise and procedures to successfully produce and market 4,000 juveniles to the aquarium industry, and 2,000 adults into the restaurant industries per year, within 5 years.

3. The Australian turtle industry develop a good image, through informing the public, politicians and Governments of the economic, environmental and welfare sustainability of the industry, and gain access to the live export market.

4. The freshwater aquaculture industry in Queensland adopt turtle production as a profitable adjunct to their businesses, with 50 farmers producing 10 Million turtle / year within 10 years, valued at Au$20M – Au$200M annually.

5.The Australian turtle export industry reduces the pressure on threatened Asian turtle species.
