Summary

ExoFlare has developed a farm visitor biosecurity risk assessment solution in collaboration with Australian Pork Limited (APL), which is now deployed across the pork sector. The web and mobile based software solution targets specific biosecurity risk vectors for pork producers.

In parallel, the ExoFlare solution has been customised for the red meat sector with its associated risks, in collaboration with Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA). Trials have commenced on pilot feedlot sites in April 2022.

ExoFlare is proposing to leverage the capability developed for the pork and red meat sectors, customising a version for chicken meat producers, making it available to all chicken meat producers and processors in Australia by 15 January 2023, in line with the approach taken for the pork and red meat sectors.

Customisation of the software, including targeted diseases and appropriate mitigation and risk tolerance settings, would be advised through an industry consultation process and based on the principles set out in the Australian Chicken Meat Federation’s National Farm Biosecurity Manual for Chicken Growers.

The software will allow producers to assess the biosecurity risk of all visitors to their properties including staff, delivery drivers, contractors, government and members of the public, creating a system of record for declarations made and conditions of entry provided. The software will accommodate differences in biosecurity regulatory compliance requirements across the various state and territory jurisdictions.

The software is made available through users’ mobile phones, tablets and desktop computers. It can pre-populate fields for regular users for an efficient declaration and approval process, which takes 30 seconds on average to complete.

Information security and privacy is central to ExoFlare’s platform.  Our end user licencing agreement and associated privacy policy are available to all users at all times, including on registration.  The philosophy that underpins those documents is that ownership of data rests with users and can only be shared with third parties with explicit permission.

The software will enable detailed analysis of data received from all users, to support industry wide insights on risk, best practice and emerging issues or trends in behaviour, across production sites.   That insight will be able to be shared in aggregate back to farm managers and business owners, along with the industry body, to support learning and responsiveness, in outbreak events.
