An expert thirdparty review of the AusAgLCI Methodology document, version 21 Dec 2013 (the“Document”), will be conducted.

The Document describes the procedures for collecting lifecycle inventory data for unit processes relevant to agricultural production. The agricultural LCI is part of the broader AusLCI database and as such subject to the “Requirements for the development of AusLCI Data sets” (Version 2.6, 9 May 2013) that describe amongst others the more general requirements regarding e.g. formating, validation, review and documentation (meta data) of inventory data. The review will therefore not include these topics, but focus exclusively on the issues addressed in the Document (system boundaries, data sources, elementary flows, et cetera). The review will consider consistency with AusLCI, as well as Ecoinvent, a database on which AusLCI and AusAgLCI heavily draw. Methodology guidance from the ILCD Handbook and UNEP/SETAC principles will also be considered, but a formal review against such guidelines would only be appropriate for the full AusLCI requirements. Relevant guidance from ISO 14040/44 will also be included, but note that the ISO standards give guidelines for LCA, not LCI databases.
