Summary

The workshop will cover the elements of managing pests and diseases within a honey bee colony, with practical work at an apiary in Gordonvale plus looking locally at Asian bees.
This pilot course will be the learning and development program for the honey industry to establish a holistic approach to living with Asian bees.
As the risk of Asian bees spreads, training will be needed in the future to maintain and manage honey bee colonies affected with the diseases, pests and parasites associated with an Asian bee infestation, and where else better to trial this than with the Asian bees in Cairns.
