The rice industry in Australia has been and will continue to be subjected to an array of transformational changes requiring stakeholders and growers to continually adapt by adopting practices that can counter the effects of global, market-based and environmental shifts.
This report investigates the social drivers that influence technology adoption by rice growers. Such drivers include farmers’ personal goals, knowledge and networks, to the broader cultural, environmental and economic context in which they make decisions. The research is important in providing knowledge of the complex issues relating to the uptake of technology that are not necessarily known or easily captured with existing research and practice.
