Since 2014, farm support policies have been on the rise and domestic subsidies in particular have grown in importance in numerous countries. As a non-subsidising, agricultural-exporting country, Australia loses from such policies abroad. The most recent data available from 2014, show that global farm support policies (domestic producer subsidies and import barriers) lowered net farm incomes in Australia by 15% and reduced Australia’s farm exports by 29%.
