The Australian rice industry has frequently suffered massive yield losses due to cold snaps at the booting stage. Genetic improvement for cold tolerance is the best solution to deal with the problem, but repeated attempts to improve cold tolerance via breeding have met with limited success.
The aim of this RIRDC project was to provide the biotechnological basis for the improvement of cold-tolerance in rice.
