The creation of new lucerne seed production areas can provide a more water use efficient alternative compared with traditional crops (rice, corn & soybeans) for regions that are experiencing reduced water allocations due to drought and government reductions in availability of irrigation water. It provides these communities with increased economic benefits not only from the production of seed, but the raising of prime lambs and hay.
The aim of this RIRDC project is to provide potential and existing growers a reference manual that will help guide growers with the production of a lucerne seed crop.
