The Gary Sansom Scholarship is a new addition to the AgriFutures Australia postgraduate scholarship program, designed specifically to support the AgriFutures™ Chicken Meat Program industry priorities.

About

Established in honour of former AgriFutures™ Chicken Meat Advisory Panel Chair and Australian Chicken Meat Federation President, Gary Sansom, the scholarship aims to uncover future chicken meat industry leaders, providing funding and support to make their mark on the industry.

The Gary Sansom Scholarship is named in honour of the late Gary Sansom. Mr Sansom was a long-standing supporter of programs encouraging new people in to the chicken meat industry and championed several communication and training initiatives vital to the industry.

The scholarship will support Mr Sansom’s vision for the industry – to ensure it is valued and respected by all sectors and the Australian community. It aims to develop leadership in the research community.

Who can apply

Worth up to $35,000, the prestigious Gary Sansom Scholarship will seek to identify high quality students, foster a career pathway in the chicken meat industry and support industry relevant research.

The successful candidate will be a broad thinker, someone who wants to contribute to the Australian chicken meat industry and contribute long term, not just through the outcomes of their own research.

The successful scholar will receive a stipend of up to $35,000 for living expenses and undertake a research project that contributes applied outcomes to the production of chicken meat in Australia. As part of the scholarship, the student will have access to an industry supervisor to support their study and career pathway.

The Gary Sansom Scholarship is open to Australian citizens and permanent residents undertaking a PhD, Masters, Honours degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline. Students and industry professionals with an interest in, and commitment to, the chicken meat industry are encouraged to apply.
