The inaugural 2019 Rice Industry Awards are set to uncover the pick of the crop; promoting grower success, recognising contribution and encouraging pride and passion in the dynamic industry.

Rice Extension, in conjunction with  AgriFutures Australia, are pleased to launch the inaugural 2019 Rice Industry Awards, a new initiative aimed at bringing growers and industry together to celebrate the current and future success of the rice industry.

The 2019 Rice Industry Awards will comprise of two categories:

  • Grower of the Year Award
  • Rice Extension Highest Yield for C19 Award

Murray region Rice Extension Officer, Troy Mauger, said the awards are an exciting initiative to focus on the very best growers and farming best practices, sustainability outcomes and business management.

“A core focus for Rice Extension is connecting rice growers with the latest information to improve productivity, profitability and sustainability,” explained Mr Mauger.

“The launch of the Rice Industry Awards is a milestone for the industry and a fitting way of recognising the best of the best – it’s a chance to showcase what our growers have achieved as a result of adopting new farming practices.”

Award winners will be announced at the RGA Annual Conference in August 2019, along with the Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia (RGA) Honorary Councilor Award. A Grower of the Year Field Day will also be held to showcase the award recipients’ farming practices in December 2019.

Industry supporters are invited to partner with Rice Extension to roll out the inaugural awards. Partnership opportunities will span 15 months of activities to ensure maximum exposure and value.

“The Awards are a fantastic opportunity for organisations and businesses associated with the industry to highlight their commitment and support for growers and individuals who are at the forefront of best practice,” said Mr Mauger.

“Alignment with the Awards will celebrate achievement, innovation and sustainability and offer extensive promotion opportunities.

“We invite all industry supporters to partner with us to promote the inaugural Awards and champion outstanding rice farmers leading the way in an exceptional industry.”

Nominations for the inaugural 2019 Rice Industry Awards will open in March 2019, details regarding each category will be made available in the New Year.
