Man on stage

Are you an Australian, New Zealand or International agrifood tech startup? Are you a farmer with a problem that you face on a daily basis? Applications for evokeAG Pitch Tent are now open.

evokeAG Pitch Tent is set to be a key element of the inaugural international agrifood technology event, evokeAG to be held in Melbourne on 19 -20 February 2019.

evokeAG Pitch Tent will give innovative agricultural producers and agrifood tech startups an opportunity to pitch their problems and ideas on stage to an Australian and international audience. Split into three streams, evokeAG Pitch Tent aims to showcase high quality startups that are addressing key challenges in agriculture, whilst also giving a voice to producers to hear their pain points.

There are three different streams open to receive applications. Five finalists will be selected from each stream, to present to a panel of expert judges and delegates including successful entrepreneurs, investors, and industry influencers. The three streams are:

Producer Problem: This stream is for primary producers to pitch their industry problem to the audience and judges. You must be the primary producer (such as a grower, farm manager etc) with an agricultural challenge that you face in your daily operations that there is currently no solution for.

Seed Funding: This stream is targeting those entrepreneurs seeking seed funding/partnership to commercialise their idea. If you are entering this steam, you will not yet be in market (i.e. no paying customers) however you may have a prototype and/or be market testing.

Investment Ready: This stream is our showcase pitch. Participants will be high quality and looking to scale globally. If you are entering this steam, you must be in market and post seed funding stage.

Each stream finalist will be matched with a mentor to assist and prepare them for their pitch and will have the opportunity to network with global VCs, startup ecosystem leaders and program directors, corporate decision makers, and engage with the global agtech community at the event. Winners will share in a total prize pool of $35,000 cash plus in-kind prizes.

Managing Director of AgriFutures Australia, John Harvey said the emphasis is on startups who have developed solutions, and primary producers who are looking to find solutions to on-farm problems.

“evokeAG Pitch Tent is a valuable platform for startups to present their vision and strategy to an international audience, and for producers to present their problems.

“The three streams enable participation from farmers through to burgeoning and successful entrepreneurs, which we hope will encourage a wide range of applicants and ideas,” he said.

Director of Rocket Seeder, Matthew Pryor said, “evokeAG Pitch Tent is tailor-made for the agrifood innovation industry as we seek to help create as many successful Australian startups in agriculture as possible. Startups drive innovation, and innovation is what will decide how our sector fares through the 21st century. Input from the entire ecosystem from agtech, research and producers is needed to help transform the current food system and tackle the major challenges faced due to the globe’s burgeoning population.”

”Whether you’re an entrepreneur, farmer, producer, startup or someone facing a unique industry challenge, then evokeAG Pitch Tent is for you,” concluded Mr Harvey. “It will be the ideal place where new ideas can spread across the country through discussion and collaboration and we welcome all applications.”
