Applications open: AgriFutures™ Ginger Advisory Panel

AgriFutures Australia is seeking applications from ginger growers with an interest in, and passion for, research and development (RD&E) to join the AgriFutures™ Ginger Program Advisory Panel.

The Panel consists of people with a range of skills and experience in the research, farming and processing sectors of the ginger industry, together with a Manager from AgriFutures Australia.

The key functions of AgriFutures Australia Industry Advisory Panels are to:

  • advise AgriFutures Australia on the current state of the industry, and its RD&E requirements
  • provide recommendations on short-listed research applications consistent with the research priorities identified in the AgriFutures Australia Ginger Five Year RD&E Plan 2017-2022
  • advise on and assist with the dissemination, adoption and commercialisation of RD&E
  • encourage co-investment by other stakeholders to support ginger RD&E.

Members of the Panel will be recompensed for their services to AgriFutures Australia at rates determined by the Commonwealth’s Remuneration Tribunal that include, sitting fees for meetings and associated travel expenses. Please note that Advisory Panels do not hold any financial delegations.

The AgriFutures™ Ginger Advisory Panel will meet, on average, four times per year, either in person or via teleconference. Additional meetings may be held where a need is demonstrated. The AgriFutures Australia Managing Director will appoint panel members, following consultation with John Smith, Senior Manager Research, and with relevant industry stakeholders. The term of appointment to the AgriFutures™ Ginger Advisory Panel is three years.
