The Australian dairy goat industry makes a small, but valuable, contribution to the health and wealth of Australians. In 2016, the farm-gate value of the industry was approximately $20.2- $26.9 million.

Evaluations on the size of the industry in 2016, compared to previous estimates, suggest that the number of goats in the national herd is growing rapidly, despite the number of license holders remaining steady
